Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Save Your Chess ("we", "us", "the Service") helps you collect, review and understand your own chess games. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to the terms below. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy that follows.

Terms of Service

1. Using the Service

You may use Save Your Chess only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login details secure. You must be old enough to form a binding agreement in your jurisdiction to create an account.

2. Your content and chess games

The Service lets you import games from third-party platforms (such as Chess.com and Lichess) and add your own notes, lines and annotations. You keep ownership of the content you add. You grant us permission to store and process it solely to operate the Service for you — for example to analyze your games and surface patterns across them. Imported games remain subject to the terms of the platform they came from.

3. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service. In particular, do not attempt to disrupt or overload it, access other users' data, reverse-engineer or scrape it at scale, or use it to break the law or the terms of the platforms you import from.

4. Availability and changes

Save Your Chess is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. It is a personal project offered in good faith; we may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Service to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and, optionally, a name and password.
  • Chess data — the platform handles you provide, the games we import for you, and any notes or annotations you add.
  • Usage data — basic analytics about how the site is used, to help us improve it.

How we use it

We use your information to provide and improve the Service: to log you in, import and store your games, analyze them, and understand which features are useful. We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

To run the Service we rely on third parties, including the chess platforms you import from (Chess.com, Lichess), analytics (Google Analytics), and email delivery for login codes and notifications. These providers process data on our behalf according to their own policies.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, along with analytics cookies that help us understand usage.

Your choices

You can review or update your account details while signed in, and you can request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us. We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the Service.
